Update on my APR 1.8t Stage 1 trial: I can see why they do the free trials on these things. The 35 hp bump is pretty nice, but it's the 75 extra lb*ft that really sold me. It almost feels as powerful as the 911 now. Almost. The only possible downside is that the unintentional rolling burnouts may get tiresome after a while. It's going to be really hard going back to stock when this thing runs out.

Holy shit that's huge from a tune. Even though maintenance will certainly increase with manufacturers going to turbo engines the aftermarket is going to thrive with big power increases for minimal investment. Sounds like fun.

60hp/100tq gains aren't unheard of from just a tune on turbo cars, especially twin-turbo engines like the 335i.

997 Turbos can very quickly approach stupid levels of power as well.

I have a stage 2 tune on my mazdaspeed3, and rolling burnouts can be a pain sometimes. Even when you're not really getting on it in first and second I'll break em loose and look like a cock. It's worth it though the gain is awesome. Those APR tunes are awesome

LOL I'm comparing it too NA tunes. Tuning the M54 in my 330Ci is almost a futile effort unless I add forced induction. Le sigh.

I know that feel. :\

Modern engines are generally pretty well put together. There's not a lot of extra power hiding in the details. FI engines can go higher because most people who are tuning their cars aren't as concerned about long-term reliability as the carmakers and the soccer moms.
